With their concert entitled “PEACE,” the multi-Grammy® and Emmy Award®-winning SOWETO GOSPEL CHOIR return to North America to perform a joyful program of South African freedom songs, traditional spirituals and some classics. Formed in 2002, the Choir was created to celebrate the unique power of African gospel music and quickly established itself as a group that is “undeniably synchronized, appears unshakable, and simultaneously expresses universality and individuality” (San Francisco Classical Voice). Heralded by Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Barack Obama, and Oprah Winfrey, SOWETO GOSPEL CHOIR excites audiences worldwide, uplifting the soul and spreading joy through its earthy rhythms, rich harmonies, brilliant costumes, and infectious spirit. The Barefoot Movement integrates bluegrass, blues, folk, rock, country and pop into music that’s delightfully fresh. Shows feature original songs and reimagined cover tunes with tight three-part harmonies and hot instrumentals.

Since 2011, progressive acoustic band The Barefoot Movement has been recording and touring internationally, winning the 2014 IBMA momentum award, and releasing three studio albums as well as a live album, a holiday album, two EP’s, and a covers collection.  They’ve been a tight knit group of four, with a loyal fan base in the bluegrass world.  But when the pandemic brought their momentum to a halt, the four-piece ensemble began to fragment, with bandmates moving in different directions during the forced hiatus.

Our first dance of 2026 is almost here, and it’s going to be sweet as candy! Step into a colorful Candy Land themed night filled with sugary vibes, smiling faces, and plenty of fun. This dance is open to anyone 18 and older, so grab your friends and get ready for a treat of a night.

Tickets go on sale Monday 1/5/26 at the Senior Center or anytime by scanning the QR Code. $10 in advance/ $12 at the door.
